Main Purpose of the Position


Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining a   calibration program including budgets, equipment, service related contracts and personnel to drive increased productivity, equipment reliability and regulatory compliance. This includes designation of the required technical qualifications of personnel, improving the customer experience and overseeing a variety of activities including simple to sophisticated installations, maintenance, troubleshooting anId repair of all laboratory and process related instruments and instrumentation systems.


Primary Responsibilities and Duties


Demonstrates proficiency in all department related processes, with the emphasis on processes that are listed but not limited to:

  • Oversees the development, review and revision of internal calibration and maintenance processes and procedures including developing functional testing related to the approval of incoming laboratory equipment.
  • Ensures program compliance with regulatory requirements including National and International External Standards.
  • Oversees the implementation and support of processes and services for in-house bench-top laboratory equipment.
  • Works closely with other departments on issues related to instrumentation to identify opportunities to improve customer satisfaction, improve internal and customer facing processes.
  • Ensures that all instrumentation related internal tactical processes, best practices and priorities are adhered to and regularly reviewed/revised to support/promote continuous improvement environment.
  • Is involved with, and manages special projects that are cross departmental, divisional and multidisciplinary.
  • Is engaged with management on both a tactical and strategic level to drive continuous improvements across the group.
  • Oversees the timely generation, maintenance and reporting of the required department metrics and all work performed as measured against (SLA Metrics, Local Metrics & Corporate Metrics) .
  • Manages all   instruments and measuring equipment in calibrated status and good technical condition   to ensure continuous production.
  • Review/ approve completed work records.
  • Manage, maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration activities for large equipment (like cage washer, glass washer, autoclave) that are directly supporting production.
  • Manage Facility utility projects for the BDB plant, liaison with site facility utility team

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Relevant University or College degree (such as Elecrical or Mechanical Engineering and any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates possession of the knowledge and abilities stated above and the ability to perform the duties of the position)
  • Ability to work with personal computers and network system on advanced level
  • Open and willing to precisely document and keep records of performed and planned activities
  • Fully bilingual (English and Hungarian)
  • Ability to learn and understand complex technologies
  • Manage priorities and identify need for escalation
  • Installation, repair and maintenance of a wide range of mechanical, electrical, electro mechanic and electronic equipment
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing with varying levels of the organization
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.


Advantage (Knowledge, skills and Abilities)

  • Five or more years of experience in general electrical and instrumentation and/or in the field metrology.
  • External Standards including; ISO10012, ISO 13485, ISO17025 and others
  • Metrological theories, principles and practices including theoretical physics
  • Proper methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the electrical and electronic trades
  • Operate all electrical and electronic test equipment, including Digital multi-meters, ammeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, calibrators and signal generators
  • Efficient and accurate maintenance of electronic maintenance work order systems, and scheduling
  • Work from technical manuals, shop drawings, wiring diagrams, blueprints, schematics, rough sketches, plans, specifications and catalogs
